What makes a door impact-rated?
An impact-rated door is approved as a complete assembly (slab, frame, glass, and hardware tested together), which is why the hardware and the installation matter as much as the panel itself. Entry doors are ordered double-bored with multi-point hardware installed at the factory rather than retrofitted on site. As with windows, the exact product and the approval covering your opening are confirmed in writing before anything is ordered.

Can you replace a very wide sliding door opening?
Yes. Wide multi-panel impact sliding systems are core work for us. Each system is measured and specified for your opening; we’ll confirm configurations and options in your written quote.
Are impact doors rated for a specific wind speed?
Ratings belong to specific products in specific configurations, not to doors in general, so we don’t quote one number for everything. Miami-Dade product approvals are Florida’s most demanding standard, and the products we quote carry the approvals your opening and jurisdiction require, documented on your written quote.
Can I get an impact door that looks like wood?
There are finish and design options that read beautifully as traditional entries, along with modern glass and panel looks. We’ll bring options to your estimate so you can compare in person.
Do new doors come with new locks and hardware?
Yes, hardware is part of the specification. We typically order entry doors double-bore, so you pick the exact handleset and deadbolt you want (and we’ll point you to a great hardware source). Multi-point locking is different: it’s built into the door frame itself and ordered from the manufacturer, and it adds serious everyday security.
What about the door between the garage and the house?
Interior and garage-passage doors follow different rules than exterior glazed openings. That door generally needs to be fire-rated rather than impact-glazed, and we offer options that meet the code for that opening too. We’ll look at every opening during the estimate and tell you what actually needs attention.
