What is an impact window?
An impact window is a window built with laminated glass and a reinforced frame, tested and approved to resist wind-borne debris and hurricane pressure under the Florida Building Code. Like a windshield, the glass may crack in a direct hit, but it stays in the frame and the opening stays sealed.
Do impact windows replace hurricane shutters?
Yes. Impact-rated windows and doors protect the opening on their own, so there is nothing to put up before a storm and nothing to take down after. You can keep existing shutters if you like, but they are no longer doing the work. We confirm the right product approval for every opening on your written quote.
How long does installation take?
Installation itself is done in one day. The longer part of the calendar is manufacturing: your custom-built units typically take about 8 to 10 weeks to arrive. Your written quote includes the expected sequence, and we update you whenever anything moves.
Do I need a permit, and who handles it?
Yes. Window and door replacement is permitted work in Florida, and that is a good thing: the inspection verifies the installation meets code. Our permitting team prepares and files the package at contract signing, coordinates the inspection, and handles HOA paperwork if your community requires it.
Which counties are in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone?
Miami-Dade and Broward counties form Florida’s High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), the strictest wind-borne debris standard in the Florida Building Code. Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast follow the code’s wind-borne debris rules. Either way, we match approved products to your address and document the approvals in writing.
What warranty comes with the work?
Every installation carries our 3-year labor warranty. Product and manufacturer warranty terms differ by product line, so they are confirmed in writing with your quote rather than promised loosely.

How much do impact windows cost in Florida?
There is no honest flat number. The price depends on how many openings you have, their sizes, the styles you choose, the frame and glass options, and the approvals your county requires. That is why our estimate is free and written: you get itemized pricing for your actual home, with no obligation.
Are impact windows required in Florida?
Not statewide. The Florida Building Code requires glazed openings in the wind-borne debris region, which covers our whole service area, to be protected by either impact-rated products or approved shutters. In Miami-Dade and Broward, the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, products must also carry HVHZ approvals. Impact windows are one of the two ways to meet the rule, and the only one that needs nothing put up before a storm.
Do impact windows lower homeowners insurance?
Often, but the amount depends on your insurer and your home. Florida insurers offer wind-mitigation credits for homes with protected openings, and impact-rated windows and doors can qualify. The credit is set by your insurer after a wind mitigation inspection, so we do not promise a figure. We install approved products and provide the documentation your inspector needs.
